Charles Edward "Sonny" Wyrick Obituary
Charles Edward "Sonny" Wyrick, was born on January 23, 1935 in Salisbury, NC, . Charles was a man who embraced life with both hands, ever ready to savor every moment, every experience, every joy that came his way. He was an avid outdoorsman who held an unwavering passion for birds, finding joy and peace in the simple act of observing these creatures in their natural habitat.
In his professional life, Charles was a dedicated and hardworking Lineman for the City of Camden, retiring after many years of committed service. This same drive and dedication were reflected in his hobbies as well, where he enjoyed the intricate task of small engine repair, a testament to his patience and keen eye for detail. His love for sweets was legendary, and he never missed an opportunity to relish a sweet treat. A proud member of Kershaw Lodge #29, Charles was a past Master of the lodge, and was also associated with The York Rite and the Jamil Shrine. This showed his commitment to service and community, and his willingness to always lend a helping hand.
Charles was a man who loved deeply and was deeply loved in return. He is survived by his children, Rickey Hinson (Amy), Susan Hinson (Johnny), Vicky Arledge, Chardise Honeycutt (Robert), and Charles Wyrick II; grandchildren, Dray Lloyd, Ashlee Taylor, Lee Munn, Monica Walters, Cody Hinson, Mariah Crocker (Kevin), Dean McDaniel, Leighann Tatum, David Trexler, Robert Honeycutt, Zach Honeycutt, Tyler Honeycutt; 23 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and is also survived by many nieces and nephews who affectionately called him "Uncle Sonny". He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Martha Wyrick; daughter, Deborah Munn; parents, SY Wyrick and Katherine Graham Wyrick; siblings, Dean Wyrick, Carl Lee Wyrick, Becky Ponds, Pat Cobble, Dorothy Miller, and Judy Hill; and grandchildren, Shon Lloyd, Dana Lloyd, and Sandy Lloyd.
A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Freedom Outreach Church.
