Donald Eugene Capell, 87, affectionately known as Don, was born on October 28, 1938 in Sumter, SC and passed away on May 18, 2026.  He spent most of his life in Lugoff, South Carolina, where he established a cherished presence in his community. Don was a faithful member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church, where he found comfort and fellowship. He was also a well-known figure in town, as he owned and operated Don's Barber Shop for many years. In his spare time, Don found joy in refinishing furniture, hunting, and fishing, hobbies that allowed him to express his creativity and love for the outdoors.

Don is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Margaret Capell;  son, Steve Capell (Arlene); daughter, Dana Jones (Mark); grandchildren, Steven Craig Capell (Pam), Magan Teal (Justin), Lauren Barnwell (Jason), Steven Jones (Taylor), Christian Jones (Chelsea), Elena Cavallo (Marc); 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sue Garvin (George). Don was predeceased by his parents, Johnnie and Lethea Capell, and siblings, Nancy Amerson, Larry Capell, June Mathis and Mary Catherine Wescott. 

Visitation for Don will be on Thursday, 21 May 2026 from 1-2 pm at Pine Grove Baptist Church, 836 Pine Grove Road, Lugoff, South Carolina, 29078. A funeral service will follow at the church at 2:00 pm. with burial to follow in Quaker Cemetery, 713 Meeting Street, Camden, South Carolina, 29020. The Rev. Eric Boone will officiate. Don's life was marked by devotion to his family, commitment to his church, and a passion for his community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
