Leland Verner Paschal, a man whose life was a testament to the power of love, commitment, and hard work, passed away on May 17, 2026. Born in Columbia, South Carolina on July 9, 1939, he was the son of the late Roland Otis Paschal and Maggie Lou Delk Paschal.
As a devoted carpenter, Leland's craftsmanship was not only his livelihood but also an embodiment of his attention to detail and passion for creating something meaningful. His love for carpentry was surpassed only by his love for his wife, Nancy Elrod Paschal, to whom he was married for an incredible 58 years. Their enduring love story was a beacon for those who knew them, a testament to their shared strength, and a shining example of unwavering commitment.
Leland's love for life was not confined to his work and family. He found great joy in the simple pleasures of working on the farm, camping, and visiting Mr. Williams peach farm.
His commitment to his faith was evident in his active membership in the Midway Methodist Church in Columbia, SC. His faith provided a strong foundation for his life, guiding his actions and giving him strength in times of adversity.
Leland is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; children, Jeff Paschal, Deborah Rahim (Farooq) and Angie Taylor (Eddie); brother, Leo R. Paschal; sister, Ester Pearl Thigpen; grandchildren, Tim Paschal (Ree), Steven Paschal (Nick), Jacob Rahim (Huesna), Ismail Rahim, Kamil Rahim, Justin Moates and Montana Holloway (Soloman); great grandchildren, Abby, Tyler, Aria, Grady and Haven.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his children, Steven Paschal and Timothy Paschal; brother, Leon Paschal; sister, Charlotte Lovett; and granddaughter, Victoria Moates.
Services for Mr. Paschal will be privately held by the family.
