Betty Dale Spitzer Obituary

Betty Spitzer, affectionately known as "Dale" to her friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026 surrounded by her family. Born on January 28, 1951, in Charleston, SC, Betty was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend whose life was filled with joy and whose laughter was infectious.

Betty was a woman of many talents and passions. A member of Bethel Worship Center, she had a love for the beach, was an avid reader, and practiced hair styling, bringing beauty and style to those around her. Yet her greatest joy was traveling with her loving husband of 54 years, Danny Spitzer. Together, they embarked on countless adventures, creating memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew them. Betty is also survived by her children, Monica Ellinwood (Geoff) and George Spitzer (Brian Cowherd), her sister, Sharon Glasso (Michael), grandchildren, Cameron Clyburn (James Johnson), Jedadiah Ham, Benjamin "Bradley" Varney; great-granddaughter, Leanna Huggins; and a niece, Kristi Robinson (Jonathan). She was preceded in death by her parents, Alma and Samuel Birt.

The family will be receiving friends on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Powers Funeral Home, 832 Ridgeway Road, Lugoff, South Carolina, 29078 from 5-6 pm. A service to celebrate Betty's life will be held at the funeral home starting at 6:00 pm. Betty's life was a testament to the power of love, the joy of exploration, and the beauty of family. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the many lives she touched. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation.
