Corine Brown Chavis Kelly, 95, of Lugoff, South Carolina, passed away on the 1st of May, 2026. Born on the 28th of December, 1930, in Columbia, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Tom and Frances Brown. She spent the majority of her life as a devoted homemaker, creating a warm and welcoming home for her loved ones. Corine was a woman of faith, a long-time member of the Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church, where she worshipped and served her community with unwavering commitment.

Corine led a fulfilling life, filled with the joy of simple pleasures. She loved spending her free time playing spades, listening to gospel music, and fishing. Her hobbies were a testament to her love for tranquility and the simple joys of life. She was a remarkable woman, known for her kindness, her love for her family, and her deep faith. Her influence and love will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

Corine is survived by her beloved son, Jesse Chavis (Earnestine), her cherished daughter, Marilyn Harris, special granddaughter, Janice Nelson (Kevin); 24 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Alfred Chavis, Jr.; second husband, Willie Kelly, Jr.; children, David Chavis, Sr., Larry Chavis, Thelma Louise Chavis Johnson, Alfreda C. Bennett, Carolyn Hall Parks, Stanley Chavis, Andre Chavis; and siblings, Andrew Brown, Jesse Brown, Dorothy Johnson, and Leroy Patterson.

The viewing will be held at Mt Pilgrim Baptist Church, located at 1341 McCord's Ferry Road, Lugoff, South Carolina, 29078, on Wednesday, the 6th of May, 2026, starting at 2:00 pm. The funeral service will follow, starting at 3:00 pm at the church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Andrew Thomas will officiate. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church.
