Harvey Chambers Obituary

Regretfully, we announce the peaceful passing of Harvey Chambers, which occurred on April 25, 2026. Born on March 1,1957 in Washington, DC. Harvey was the son of the late Dorothy Mae Chambers Larry.

Harvey attended Washington, DC public Schools. Early on, he was employed with Spring Mills. He later assumed employment as a manager with what was originally known as BBA non-woven, in Bethune, South Carolina. He remained for 20+ years. His last employment was with Kershaw County Boards of Disability and Special Needs.

In 1979, he married his beautiful wife of 34 years: the late Eula M. Chambers. Together, they had one son: Derrick Seegars

Harvey’s deep, resonant voice often captured others’ attention. He was a die-hard Washington Redskins football fan. He supported his team during both winning and losing seasons. His hobbies were: watching sports, attending NFL football games, & cooking gumbo. He had a special seafood gumbo recipe that he learned to perfect. He also loved his dogs, Sweetney and Lola. However, his granddaughter, Adreana Jefferson, occupied a uniquely cherished spot in his heart among the many things he valued. The love he showed her will always be remembered.

Harvey took a keen interest in getting to know his creator better. John Miller was able to help him continue pursuing his interest in Bible Truths. This lead to a Bible study where he endeavored to make changes in his life little by little. Harvey soon realized the important role of the son of God, Jesus Christ as well as his father, Jehovah. He accepted Jehovah God’s gift of the ransom. One of the truths that he embraced was the Bible’s resurrection hope. It was this hope that he willingly looked forward to prior to his passing.

In addition to his late wife, Harvey Chambers was preceded in death by his stepson, Lamont Seegars and his mother, Dorothy Mae Chambers Larry.

Left to cherish his memories are his sons, Derrick Seegars, Sr. of Kershaw, SC and Harvey Chambers of Baltimore, MD; brother, Paul Tibbs of Washington, DC; sister, Rosetta Larry of Washington, DC; grandchildren, Adreana Jefferson of Lancaster, SC and Derrick Seegars, Jr of Greensville, SC; great-grandchildren, Caiden Shropshire of Lancaster, SC and Aiden Coleman of Lancaster, SC. as well as a host of family and friends that will miss him dearly.

A memorial service honoring the life of Mr. Chambers will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Powers Funeral Home in Lugoff, SC. The family will receive friends and family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
