Robert Lee Glinski Obituary

In Loving Memory of a Remarkable Soul

It is with deep sorrow and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we remember a truly extraordinary individual. Robert L. Glinski, Machinist Mate Master Chief  Retired US Navy, passed away on  April 23, 2026.  Born on September 5, 1935 in Brockton, Mass, he was predeceased by his mother, Hazel Glinski.

Ski, as he was affectionately known, served honorably as a nuclear machinist mate in the U.S Navy where he received several commendations for his service and loyalty.

He met and married the love of his life, Everlyne Evans Glinski (Ebbie), while stationed in Charleston, SC, embracing her and accepting her daughters as his own children. He is survived by his daughters Susan Mellard Asher (John), and Sandra Mellard Watts (Gary) of Columbia, SC. He leaves behind grandchildren Brian Walker Asher and Emily Watts Infinger (Jeremy), along with his great grandson Benjamin Isaac Infinger. He also leaves behind his devoted companion and caretaker Frances Lauralye Baker.

He took great pleasure in hunting and fishing, riding his beloved horse, Lou Henry Hank, at the log cabin in Idaho that he and Ebbie built by hand. After retirement from the Navy, he worked for Kraft and American Potato. Upon retiring for good, he and Ebbie spent the rest of his days traveling the southwest and ultimately spending winters in Lake Havasu, AZ. Ski and Ebbie moved to Columbia, SC, where he took loving care of her during her 10-year battle with Alzheimer's.

Though he is no longer with us in the ways we wish, his spirit endures in every act of kindness, every burst of laughter, and every moment we choose to live with intention. He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever cherished.

The family will be receiving friends from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at Powers Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. With a graveside service to follow at 1:00 pm at Fort Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pruitt Hospice Group or the Alzheimer’s Association.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Pruitt Hospice Group, more specifically, Whitney Boyd, RN and Shade Smalls for all that they have done during this difficult time.
