Elroy Dinkins Obituary
Elroy Wesley Dinkins, 83, of Elgin, South Carolina, departed this life on April 18, 2026. Born on September 13, 1942, in Columbia, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Walter and Eunice Dinkins. Elroy was a man of strong convictions, a devoted husband, and a loving community member. He was a faithful member of Harvest Baptist Church, where he served with humility and dedication.
Elroy spent his working years as a pipe welder in construction, a role that highlighted his meticulous nature and unwavering work ethic. Upon retirement, he channeled his passion for automobiles into the founding of Elgin Auto, where he enjoyed buying and selling cars. His love for the intricate workings of vehicles was only surpassed by his love for his beloved wife, Carol Dinkins, to whom he was married on September 7, 1963. Their enduring love story was an inspiration to all who knew them. Beyond his professional life, Elroy found joy in playing cards, a pastime that allowed him to engage in friendly competition with his peers.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Janie Carol Dinkins; daughter, Janie Faye Frick; son, Charles Douglas Dinkins; a brother, Jack Dinkins (Becky); 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preleased by his sons, James "Eddie" Dinkins, Elroy "Roy" Dinkins, Jr.; and siblings, Albert Jessie Dinkins, Mary Frances Rodgers, Judy Elaine Fuller and Eunice Fay Disher.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, April 24, 2026, from 1-2 pm at Harvest Baptist Church, located at 281 Wildwood Lane, Lugoff, South Carolina, 29078.
