Margaret Virginia Jones, known to all as Margaret, was a vibrant beacon of warmth and wisdom born in Columbia, SC,  on the 29th of December, 1945. She brought her light to Lugoff, South Carolina, where she resided until her passing on the 14th of April, 2026.  As a dedicated custodian for the State of South Carolina, she served with distinction until her retirement. Her dedication was such that her last years of work were spent at the Governor's Mansion, a testament to her hard work and dedication.

Margaret's life was a testament to her faith and her deep connection to her community. As an active member of the Fox Hill Baptist Church, she was a source of strength and inspiration to many. 

Surviving are her son, Raford Baldwin, Jr. (Amanda) of Lugoff; step-daughter, Wanda Craig; one she raised as her own, Harry Delane Baldwin; sister, Myrtle Marsh; grandchildren, Lisa Baldwin, Christopher Tucker (Amanda), Alisha Gilley, and David Mock, Jr.; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny L. Jones; parents, Preston Melton and Virginia Higgins Baldwin; one she raised, Raford Melton Baldwin; and siblings, Mary Gibson, Lucille Phillips, Ruby Mae Murphy, Harry Baldwin, Ed Martin, and Bailey Martin. 

A service to celebrate Margaret's life will be held Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at Fox Hill Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Buddy Neeley will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service in the church.
