Thelma Tidwell Bodiford Obituary

Thelma Tidwell Bodiford, born on April 26, 1932, in Camden, SC, was a loving beacon of warmth and resilience, whose life was a testament to the power of unwavering commitment, deep-rooted faith, and enduring love. Thelma passed on April 9, 2026 at the Karesh at Beechwood, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and compassion that will continue to inspire all those who were blessed to know her. Her life was beautifully woven with threads of love, support, and thoughtfulness, much like the intricate stitches she created in her beloved sewing projects.

Thelma, a supportive homemaker by profession, was known for her extraordinary ability to transform her house into a home—a haven of love and warmth where every corner echoed with laughter and every wall was adorned with memories. Her garden was her sanctuary, an open book that narrated her life's story in its every bloom and each changing season. Alongside her love for sewing and gardening, Thelma was an avid traveler who embraced the beauty of different cultures, exploring the world with an open mind and heart.

A faithful member of the Beaverdam Baptist Church of Cassatt, Thelma served with dedication in the Woman's Missionary Union (WMU).  She loved the Lord with all her heart, and her profound faith was mirrored in her steadfast love for her family. Thelma was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Lee Tidwell; husband Calvin C. Bodiford; sons, J.L. Tidwell and Wallace Harold Tidwell; son-in-law, David Boone; father, Joe Richard Anderson, and mother, Annie Bell Christmas Anderson; brothers, Joseph Furman Anderson, James Jart Anderson, and George Walter Anderson; and sisters, Bobbie Jo McCaskill, Marion Frances Jones, and Mary Ann McCaskill Brown.

She is survived by her daughters,  Susan Boone (Tim Mosley) of Cassatt, and Wanda Swann (Tommy) of Camden; son, Doug Tidwell (Teresa) of Lugoff; brother, David Richard Anderson of Cassatt; 9 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

A service to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, April 12, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff.

Memorials may be made to Beaverdam Baptist Church Building Fund or Annie Armstrong North American Mission Board, P.O. Box 116543, Atlanta, GA 30368-6543.
