Cannon Elijah Turner Obituary

Our hearts are broken as we share the passing of our sweet soul, Cannon Elijah Turner. Born on May 5, 2012, Cannon filled the world with joy until the Lord called him home on April 6, 2026.

Cannon was full of life, known for his quick wit, kind heart, and thoughtful spirit. He loved life and was always looking for the next adventure. Cannon’s presence didn’t just brighten a room—it changed it.

An 8th-grade student at Lugoff-Elgin Middle School, Cannon loved being outdoors—especially fishing—and had a passion for travel baseball. He lived life with energy and enthusiasm, and his joy was contagious to everyone around him.

Cannon was a faithful member of Lugoff First Baptist Church, where he began attending at just two weeks old. He was involved in AWANA, Royal Ambassadors, Preschool Choir, Children’s Choir, TRIBE 1:9, and Equip Youth. He loved attending Bible studies, camps, lock-ins, and special church trips, and he found joy in serving through Judgement House and Children’s Church. At eight years old, Cannon gave his life to Jesus. He understood the importance of a personal relationship with God and boldly shared his love for Jesus with those around him.

He is survived by his loving parents, Rustin Brooks and Keri Osteen Turner; his maternal grandparents, Steve and Beth Osteen; his uncle and aunts, Jared and Gwen Oswalt, and Lisa Turner; and his cousins, Elizabeth Oswalt, Arabella Oswalt, William Oswalt, Clay Turner, Matthew Turner (Cecily), and Adam Turner. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ernest Turner, Jr. and Cathy Mullican, and his uncle, Marty Turner.

Though Cannon’s time with us was far too short, the love he gave and the memories he created will remain in our hearts forever. His smile, laughter, and strong faith will never be forgotten.

A service to celebrate Cannon’s life will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Lugoff First Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Doug Huntsinger and the Rev. Dr. William Paulling will officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 10, 2026, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the church.

Memorials to honor Cannon can be made to Lugoff First Baptist Church for Equip Youth and Lugoff First Kids.

Cannon spent many hours perfecting his love for fishing. Just as he was drawn to fishing, he was also drawn to the love of Jesus. Matthew 4:19 says, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Jesus asked the fishermen, Peter and Andrew, to follow Him—not to catch fish, but to “catch people.” Jesus has called us to bring others into God’s family. May Cannon’s life and legacy be a testimony to you and inspire you to be fishers of men.
