Pastor George Council Jr., transitioned to be with the Lord on March 26, 2026, at the age of 60.
Born on August 1, 1965, in Camden, South Carolina, Pastor Council was the youngest son of the late George and Nancy Council. He received his education in Kershaw County, proudly graduating from Camden High School.
At a very early age, Pastor Council dedicated his life to spiritual service, embarking on a profound journey of faith. He faithfully shepherded the congregation of Scott Hill Baptist Church for over a decade, passionately serving both its members and the wider community. His unwavering commitment to preaching the Gospel and his profound heart for pastoral care profoundly impacted and transformed countless lives. He leaves behind a cherished legacy of faith and devotion.
Pastor Council was preceded in death by his beloved sisters, Lillie Strasford and Susie Council, and his brother, Tyrone Council.
He is survived by his loving wife Mary Council, and their two step-daughters: Ms. Ta’Kia Bolton and Ramona Hagins, both of Columbia. He also leaves two adored grandchildren, Kevin Hagins Jr. and Jazlyn Hagins, of Columbia. Pastor Council is further survived by his three loving sisters: Stella Robinson of Cassatt, SC; Julian Riley of Bethune, SC; and Bessie (Herbert) Stokes of Columbia, SC; one brother, Joe (Priscilla) Mack of Bethune, SC. And a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends
