Harold Deese Obituary
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Edgar Harold Deese, Jr. on April 3, 2026. Born in Camden, SC, on March 26, 1949, he was the son of the late Edgar Harold Deese, Sr. and Sallie Burns Deese. His love for life, his passion for learning, and his unwavering faith are everlasting reminders of his unique spirit.
With a career spanning over three decades as a Lab Technician in Textile Manufacture, Harold was a man dedicated to his work. Harold found joy in the simple things, whether it was casting a line during a fishing trip, meticulously tracking the path of a bowling ball, or unearthing an arrowhead, hidden for centuries. His fascination for artifacts expanded his knowledge of history and added depth to his dynamic personality. A devout member of the Hermitage Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge #29, Harold's faith and commitment to service were pillars of his life.
Harold's love and devotion to his wife Diana Gale Tipton Deese, whom he married on October 28, 1983, was a testament to his caring nature. He leaves to cherish his memory, his children Edgar Harold Deese, III (Lori) of Lugoff, Andrew Dendy Deese (Mary Kate) of Irmo, James P. Epps, Jr. (Dana) of Elgin, and Cristy Epps Caldwell (Shawn) of Camden; sister, Mandy Deese Haverty (Joe) of Mt. Holly, N.C.; 13 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren and one on the way. He was predeceased by his son, Matthew Garrett Epps; brother, Jon Douglas Deese; and grandson, Zachary Ty Epps.
A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. For all who truly knew him, the family request a Hawaiian shirt be worn in memory of Harold.
Memorials may be made to VIA Hospice.
