It is with love in our hearts and tears in our eyes that we announce the passing of Joyce Etta Jane Dixon, who left us on March 26, 2026. Joyce, a radiant light in the lives of everyone she knew, was born on July 23, 1958, in Elgin, South Carolina, where she lived a fulfilling and compassionate life.

Joyce dedicated her life to caring for others, a calling realized in her career in assisted living. Joyce went on to open her own business, Dixon Community Care where she looked after the elderly. She was a nurturer at heart, a quality she embodied both in her professional life and in her personal relationships. She loves her husband, James M. Dixon, Sr., to death and they were happily married for 51 years. Joyce's love extended beyond her husband, touching the lives of her nursing home patients and everyone she met.

Beyond her career, Joyce had a zest for life that manifested in her many hobbies. Whether it was shopping, fishing, cooking, or indulging in her love for cook shows, pocketbooks, and shoes, Joyce embraced life and lived every second of it to the fullest.

In addition to her husband, Joyce is survived by her children, Alexander Dixon, Sr. (Kristy Renee Barnes), Jamie Dixon (Jessica), James Dixon, Jr. (Christina), Jessica Kessler (Mark), Christina Stoney (Ben), Melinda Dixon (Lawrence) and LaToya Dixon (Tim); siblings, Christine Outen (Reggie), Leslie Outen, Jr. (Levina), Stella Outen and Francis Stover (Lawrence); 30 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Eva Coleman Outen; Mae Jane Crosby, Dorothy Wood, Vergleen Wood, Curtis Outen and Nine Dixon (John).

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at New Jerusalem Church, 2339 Green Hill Road Elgin, SC, 29045. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
