Katherine Ann O'Keefe Obituary
In the clearest of nights, we gaze upon the stars, and with our prayers we light the way for our Mother Katherine Ann O’Keefe as she follows the light to our Lord and Savior. We sing songs of glory as she earns her angel wings, knowing soon she will return to watch over us. Her family and friends can now be assured she is safe and at ease, as she now is protected by the hands of God. Born in 1960 to her mother Arlene and father Michael, Kathy was the first of three children, her sister Micki and her brother Dylan. Growing up, Kathy was a wild and free child of the 60’s. Her life revolved around spending time with friends, dating, working, and living with her Grandmother Irene. Kathy was born in Manhattan but grew up in Far Rockaway and eventually made her way to the Bronx.
Kathy was every definition of a wild child, with her love of adventure, music, and free spirit, she was unstoppable and you could never tell her no. Kat found humor in everything, whether it be getting hurt and looking stupid while doing so, tripping and falling, or even the pranks she pulled. Cake in the face, food fights, rip downs, her sense of humor took you from being embarrassed to embracing the lighter side of life. “Get serious Kat” was often words she heard but would never conform to.
Kat had many hobbies, she loved drawing, movies, nights on the beach, theme parks, cartoons, pets, tye dye, clothing with fringes, big Gwady earrings, dream catchers, Indian feathers. Kat loved to travel, she could never just do nothing, driving, busing, taking a train, or her love for walking everywhere. You could not hold her down. Kat had the best of friends that were always there for her, and she held on to them for a lifetime, her friends were family to her Michelle, Sandy, Barbara, Nancy, Marissa, and Theresa, the list goes on.
Kathy went on to having 4 children, Luis, Kalvin, Viqtoria, and Amber. While married to her first Husband Victor, they adopted a family friend Edward. Kathy was no stranger to a large family, as she made all her kids friends welcomed to the point she was mom to them Jason, Dave, Chris, Joe, Donna, Suzy, Rich, David, Matt, Kim, Serena. It doesn’t stop there, the house was always filled with love.
Later Kathy fell on hard times with divorce, custody battle, and the loss of her son Kalvin, her obstacles took over her free spirit and became her burdens. Kathy later would receive news that she had cancer Leukemia, a battle she once faced as her grandmother, who she was close to, had ended her life. While trying to stay in good spirits, as she only knew how to, her grief was more than she could bare.
Kathy did not go without a fight, as she would have her family by her side until the end. Now as she rests in peace, her life and legacy lives on in her children Luis, Viqtoria, Amber, and Edward. Her Daughter In-Law Kristin and Son In-Law Martin, Daughter In-Law Lindsey.
Her grandchildren that she adored Dakota, Tabitha, Enzo, Janessa, Madison, Emily, Lyla, Kinsley, and Kaladin, all who will all remember her as Grandma’O & Nana.
In the clearest of nights, we gaze upon the stars, and with our prayers we light the way for our Mother Katherine Ann O’Keefe as she follows the light to our Lord and Savior. We sing songs of glory as she earns her angel wings, knowing soon she will return to watch over us. Her family and friends can now be assured she is safe and at ease
