Carl Eugene "Gene" Strickland, born October 3rd, 1951 in Blaney, South Carolina, found his final rest On March 8, 2026. Carl, a man whose spirit was as earnest as his birthplace and whose heart was as expansive as his beloved hometown, touched the lives of many during his time with us. 

Carl's career as a pipe fitter in the industrial sector was not just a job, but a testament to his dedication and work ethic. His hands, often roughened by the rigors of his work, were also the hands that created exquisite pieces of leather artistry, a hobby he pursued with a quiet passion and immense skill. Off the job, Carl was an avid fisherman, finding peace and contentment in the gentle whisper of the waters and the patient anticipation of the catch. A fervent football fan, he found joy in the thrill of the game, the camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts, and the spirited rivalries that added a dash of excitement to each season.

Surviving Carl are his cherished daughters, Kim Brown (Tom) of Elgin, Ashley Smith (Zach) of of Gig Harbor, Wash., and Kayla Bullock of Elgin; siblings, Louise Winger of Copperas Cove, Texas, Lindsay Strickland (Mary) of Greenville, S.C., and Dorothea Branham (Irvin) of Centerville, S.C.; grandchildren, Tommy Brown (Angie), Alex Brown, Faith Brown, Savannah Smith, and Zachary Smith; and great-grandchildren, Maisie Brown, Skylar Brown, and Gabriella Brown.  He was predeceased by his wife, Patti Lynn Humpries Strickland; and brother-in-law, Walt Winger.

A visitation for Carl will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, located at 832 Ridgeway Road, Lugoff, South Carolina, 29078. The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Hardshell Cemetery.
