Services for Col. Roy Wilbur Isaacson, (US Army Ret'd), 90, will be on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. in Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Foundation.
Col. Isaacson passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2026 at Kershaw Health Karesh Long Term Care. Born in Monmouth, Ill., he was the son of the late Henry F. Isaacson and Emma Rose Sheridan Isaacson. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Knox College in Galesburg, Ill. and continued his education and received Masters Degree's from both George Washington University and the Army War College. He had a very extensive military career in the United States Army to included serving in Vietnam War and was the OIC of Check Point Charlie during the Berlin Wall Crisis. He also, graduated from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police College.
Col. Isaacson served as an Elder at Bethesda Presbyterian Church and enjoyed participating in Mission Trips. His dedication to country continued in his civilian life as he enjoyed being a poll worker. He was an avid golfer and loved traveling.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Brenda Phillips Isaacson; sons, Phil Isaacson (Cynthia) of Anderson, S.C., and LTG Todd Isaacson, US Army, (Leeann) of Fairfax, Va.; his twin brother, Ray Melvin Isaacson; and 4 grandchildren. He was predeceased by 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
For those attending the service in Arlington National Cemetery, you must arrive by 2:15 p.m. and meet at the Administration Building and line up in the family parking lot. All attendees must have a Real ID or Passport to enter the cemetery.
