Robert Cecil Hancock, 86, of Camden, SC passed away peacefully on February 27, 2026 surrounded by family.  He was born on October 2, 1939 to the late H. Cecil and Clara Allen Hancock. 

As a young boy, Robert was fascinated by cars and machines. He fell in love with anything mechanical. After graduating from Camden High School, he went on to Clemson University. In 1960, he married his high school sweetheart, Linda Elliott. A few years later, they welcomed sons Rusty and Keith. Robert worked at Skyline Manufacturing Co. in the 1960s as a mechanic and engineer. Starting in the late 1970’s, he was a co-owner of Jubilee Embroidery until he retired in 1997. After retirement, he and Linda traveled across the country in their motorhome. Robert didn’t think anything about driving to Alaska or Key West; he just loved to drive.

Robert’s passion was his love for street rods. Every day, you would find him tinkering with his many cars. Robert never met a stranger and loved conversation. You could see a twinkle in his eyes and a little sideways smirk on his face. He was an extremely hardworking man and was busy from sunrise to sunset. He stayed that way until his health began to fail a few years ago.

Robert also dearly loved being a "Papa," and he was the best. His grandchildren meant the absolute world to him and they adored him. He was always there for his family; it shone on his face.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Linda Elliott Hancock; son, Rusty Hancock (Jerie); son, Keith Hancock; grandchildren: Daniel Hancock (Sarah), Casey Hancock (Katey), Jennifer Hancock, Caroline Hancock (Kayla), and Brandon Hancock (Michele). He is also survived by his siblings, Jerry Hancock (Joann), and Francis Price; 21 great-grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren and sister-in-law Suzanne Beck (Larry) as well as nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by his brother, Arthur Hancock.

The family would like to sincerely thank the entire staff at English Meadows of Camden for all the love and care they gave our Papa for the last year.

Funeral services for Robert Cecil Hancock, will be held on Wednesday, March 4 at 1:00pm at Hermitage Baptist Church, 814 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Camden, SC. Reverend Dr. Mark Hopkins will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 1659 W. Kershaw Hwy, Camden, SC.A visitation will be held at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, SC on Tuesday, March 3 from 5-7pm. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hermitage Baptist Church Legacy of Faith Building Fund.
