Luther M. Drawdy Obituary

It is with profound reverence that we celebrate the life of, Luther McArthur Drawdy, who was called to his eternal resting place on February 9, 2026. Born in Eastover, SC on March 20, 1942, and a long-time resident of Elgin, SC, Luther, affectionately known as Luke, was an inspiring individual who touched many lives in his 83 years.

Luke was a beacon of faith and dedication. He was a servant of Jesus Christ, taught Sunday School, and served as a deacon for over 20 years. His commitment to spreading God's word was unwavering, and he never missed an opportunity to do so as a member of Gideons International. His unwavering faith is best encapsulated by the words of Hebrews 6:10, "God is not unjust; He will not forget your work and the love you have shown Him as you have helped His people and continue to help them." Luke and his adoring wife, Muriel, savored their retirement days in Lake Lure, N.C., where they attended Shingle Hollow Congregational Holiness Church and participated in the Shingle Hollow Community Choir.

Luke was an accomplished entrepreneur, having owned and operated Drawdy's Heating and Air Conditioning for 38 years. His love for restoration was evident, not only in his business but also in his hobbies. He found joy in restoring old cars and pocket watches, showcasing his work at car shows, and his pride in his plentiful garden was renowned.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ezzie and William Drawdy; and siblings, William "Curtis" Drawdy, Carolyn Chambers, Willie Mae Livingston, Catherine Sneed and Frank Drawdy.

Left to cherish his memory, are his wife of 63 years, Muriel Branham Drawdy; daughters, Tonya Yvette Edgerton (Billy) of Elgin, Robin Marie Jeffers (Jeff) of Lugoff, Melanie Gale Williams (Rusty) of Elgin; grandchildren, Whitney Watson (Andy), Aubrey Gilpin (Nick), Drake Jeffers, Garrett Jeffers, Makenzie Brown (Joey), Russ Williams (Marley), and Luke Williams (Grayce); and great-grandchildren, Brantley Watson, McKinley Watson, and Landry Watson, Josiah Gilpin, Walker Brown, and Weston Williams.

Memorial service will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff.  The family will receive friends one-hour prior to the service and also following the service at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Highway Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Gideons International.
