Robert Charles Heriot Obituary

Robert Charles Heriot, 74, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026 at MUSC Kershaw Health Hospital surrounded by family. Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late Johnnie and Ophelia Caldwell Heriot. Robert, husband of the late Alice Bennett Heriot,  was a member of Springhill United Methodist Church, Rembert. He had a great sense of humor and was a comedian. Robert also had a passion for horses and worked as a caretaker in the equine industry. He enjoyed working on cars and was an exertional baseball player in his earlier years. 

    Left to cherish he memory are his daughters, Melanie Johnson of Camden, Robin Heriot of Camden, Beatrice Heriot of Columbia; grandchildren, Keiarra Johnson, Keondre Johnson, Jahmarie McLeod, Javontae Heriot, Kamiyah Shannon, Syvannah Heriot, Lyric Heriot, Armonie Heriot; sisters, Hattie Brisbon (James), Lucille Heriot, Eliza Davis; and numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Bertha Corbett, Artis Graham, Johnnie Mae Carter, Theodore Heriot, Willie Heriot, John Henry Heriot, John Thomas Heriot and Gertie Robinson. 

     A service to celebrate the life of Robert will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Springhill United Methodist Church. The Rev. Kenneth Carter will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home.
