COLUMBIA- A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Mary Louise Gunn, 87, will be held on her birthday, February 11, 2026 at Powers Funeral Home at 11:00 am. The Rev. Dave Scott will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10-11 am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Village Missions, PO Box 197 Dallas, OR 97338.

     Mrs. Gunn passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026. Born in Stillwater, OK on February 11, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Hugh Scherer and Nellie Shannon Dye Scherer. Mrs. Gunn was a member of First Baptist Church, Columbia and a graduate of Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor Degree in Education. She taught kindergarten and 1st grade in Oklahoma, Texas and Arkansas. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, needle work, sewing, baking and was an accomplished pianist and vocalist.  

    Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 67 years, Bevly Joe Gunn; sons, Terry Gunn (Cindy) of Columbia, Kevin Gunn (Nancy) of Dallas, TX; daughter, Shannon Scott (Rev. Dave) of Middleton, NH; and grandchildren, Cameron Gunn, Ryan Gunn (Zoë), Markus Gunn, Max Gunn, and John Scott. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a grandson, Joey Gunn; and siblings, Dick Scherer, Helen Nemecek, Janie Wood and Pat Baker.
