On February 3, 2026, Jessie Mae Haggins, a beacon of quiet strength and unwavering love, serenely departed this world. Born on October 16, 1934, in Bishopville, SC, Jessie's life was a vivid tapestry woven with threads of love, devotion, and service. 

Jessie was a remarkable homemaker, an artisan of the heart and home, creating a space filled with warmth and tenderness in Bethune, South Carolina. Her life was a symphony of small, perfectly performed acts of love that resonated deeply within the hearts of those she touched. Her devotion to her family was mirrored in her dedication to her faith. As a revered member of St. Matthew's Baptist Church in Bethune, S.C., she lived her faith, providing a living embodiment of its teachings.

She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Atkinson of Bethune, S.C.; son, Dennis Haggins of Bethune; grandchildren, Jessica Grier, Sasha Grier, Trey Higgins, Michael Higgins, Jalen Atkinson, and Terrance Haggins; and 12 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband Dave Haggins, Sr.;  parents, Eugene and Mary Felder Boyd; son, Dave Haggins, Jr.; sisters, Clara Magazine and Almeter Robinson; and brothers, Joseph Boyd and Daniel Boyd. Her legacy will live on through the cherished memories she left behind and the love she fostered. 

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in St. Matthew Baptist Church Cemetery in Bethune. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
