WESTVILLE- Mary P. Welch, 88, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at her home of 51 years. Born in South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Amos Teddy Payne and Minnie Lee Ellis Payne. Mrs. Welch, wife of the late Norman Welch, was a women of great faith and a member of The Cross and The Sword Church. She enjoyed gardening quilting and especially canning. Above all, she was a loving and caring mother and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Surviving are her children, Thad Stephens (Jackie) of Camden, Kay Roberts of Cassatt, Russell Stephens (Cindy) of Buffalo, MO, Lisa Bowers (Tommy) of Kershaw, Chris Stephens (Allison) of Kershaw; sisters, Betty Hornsby, Joyce McDougal; brothers, Randolph Payne; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by siblings, Jessie Payne, James Payne, Raymond Payne and Vonnie Cole.
A private service to celebrate Mary's life will be held at a later date.
