When he wasn't working, Gene reveled in the simple pleasures of life. Known as "Peanut Man," he cherished the thrill of a gamecock football games, the rush of a NASCAR race, and the tranquility of fishing on a sunny afternoon. He loved driving his old pickup truck with a lip packed full of chewing tobacco. As a dedicated member of the Taylor Street Baptist Church in West Columbia, Gene's faith was a beacon that guided him through life's triumphs and trials.
Left to cherish his memories is his children, Claire Moreno and Alvin "Bubba" Craig, Jr.; siblings, Raymond Craig, June Fulk (Lee) and Betty Coleman; grandchildren, Allison Craig, Elizabeth Barker, Jordan Riveria (Keith),Tyler Craig, Colby Craig and DJ Criag; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his father, Alva Craig; step-mother, Helen Craig; mother, Pauline Todd Estes; step-father, JW Estes; grandson, Russell Lee Barker; and brothers, Pedro Craig and Thomas Craig.
The life of Alvin Craig, Sr. will be honored on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 11:00 am at Powers Funeral Home, 832 Ridgeway Road, Lugoff, South Carolina, 29078. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
