Gene Branham an adventurous spirit born on August 19, 1937, to the late Levi "Peck" Branham and Maggie Atkerson Branham, in the serene town of Tookie Doo, South Carolina, passed away at home on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 surrounded by his family. Gene, affectionately known by many as 'Huno', was a gifted man, whose journey in this world was a testament to his smart and talented nature.

He was a successful concrete finisher, who retired after dedicating more than six decades to his profession. His astute mind and entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish Branham Construction. He didn't just build buildings; he constructed enduring legacies, training many young men who went on to become successful concrete finishers. Away from the hustle of the construction site, Gene was an avid racer, a lover of speed and thrill and an avid fisherman who enjoyed the peace and tranquility of being outdoors. He spent most of his life racing cars, motorcycles, and participating in dirt track racing, his adventurous spirit shining through each exhilarating curve and heart-stopping finish.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Jeff Branham (Lisa) of Lake Wateree and Chad Branham (Jennifer) of Lugoff; mother of his children, Nancy Williams Dodd; 10 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by a son, Steven Branham; brothers, Arthur Branham, Grady Branham and Rudolph Branham; sisters, Bernice Dixon and Rachel Huggins; and 2 granddaughters.

A service to celebrate Huno's life will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, with burial to follow in The Old Sawney's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Ridgeway.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Thiel-Meyer Pet Adoption Center.
