Billie Ann Lyell Obituary

We gather to celebrate the life of Billie Ann Lyell, born on September 25, 1956, in Columbia, South Carolina, to the late Olin and Mavis Love.  Billie was a woman whose heart overflowed with love – a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who made life brighter for everyone she met.

Billie passed away on November 2,2025. She spent many years guiding and caring for children as an After School Teacher.  Her compassion, patience, and steady kindness left a mark on countless young hearts.  She had a way of seeing the best in others and helping them see it too.

But above all else, Billie’s greatest joy was her family.  She loved nothing more than being surrounded by her children and grandchildren – laughing, sharing stories, and creating memories that will be cherished forever.  Every Christmas, her home came alive with warmth and sparkle as she decorated the most beautiful tree, each ornament chosen with care and love.  Every year, she and her husband carried their children from their rooms to the Christmas tree on Christmas morning to see what Santa had brought, filling the day with magic and joy.

Billie had a gift for making ordinary days special.  Whether she was crafting something beautiful, shopping for the perfect gift, or gathering loved ones for a meal, she poured her heart and into everything she did.  She was selfless, thoughtful, and unwavering in her love – always making sure her family had not only what they needed, but also reason to smile.

Billie leaves behind her loving husband, Terry Lyell of Lugoff, S.C. and children, Laurie Lyell (Tony) of Lugoff, S.C. and T.J. Lyell (Katie) of Moncks Corner, S.C. who love her dearly. She also leaves behind three loving grandchildren, Mason Martin, Kaia Martin and Terry “Tripp” Lyell III; along with a sister, Nancy Sox (Glenn), brother, Charles Alexander and tons of nieces, nephews and cousins.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Olin and Mavis Love, sister, Karen Shockey, and granddaughter Ellie Love Lyell.

Visitation for Billie will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, 832 Ridgeway Road, Lugoff, South Carolina.  A celebration of her life will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with burial at Elmwood Cemetery, in Columbia, South Carolina.
