Edward Wood Obituary

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Edward Nathaniel Wood on October 23, 2025. Born on August 4, 1942, in Columbia, South Carolina, Edward was a man of many talents and passions, who touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him.

He was an accomplished musician, playing guitar for the band Southern Gold. His passion for music was only outweighed by his love for the great outdoors. A skilled gunsmith and collector, Edward found peace and serenity in the mountains, as well as joy in hunting and fishing. His distinctive qualities and larger-than-life personality will remain in the hearts of his loved ones.

Edward is survived by his daughters, Cynthia Majors (Richard Byrd) of Clover, SC and Laura Wood of Blythewood, SC; son, Edward Wood of Lugoff, SC; sister, June Irvin of Fayetteville, NC; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doris Wood; loving parents, Edward Jr. and Pearl Wood; sister, Barbara Perry; a grandson and a great grandson.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, November 2 at 3:00 pm in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens in Elgin, SC. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 - 2:30 pm at Powers Funeral Home.
