CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A memorial service for Shirley Williams Thornburg, 78, will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, SC. Pastor Kenny Vinson will officiate. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 pm at the funeral home. 

Shirley Thornburg passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2025.  Born in Camden, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Leroy Williams and Ila Mae Boone Williams.

Surviving is her husband, Theodore Edward “Eddie” Thornburg; children, Shane Hough (Wife, Vicki), Buffy Foor (Husband, Rick), and Melody Thornburg; grandchildren, Sierrah Hough, Rickie Foor, Drew Foor, and Haley Ximiness; siblings, Dottie Anderson, Johnny Williams, Carl Williams (Wife, Connie), Brenda Ray (Husband, Tommy), and Claudine Armentrout. She was predeceased by her siblings, Marion Williams, Thomas Williams, Dwight Williams, and David Williams.

Shirley was a devoted mother, wife, and grandmother who truly loved life and her family. Her grandkids gave her the name of Grammy and she adored each one of them. There was never a time she didn’t welcome a stranger with open arms and a smile. Her laughter and warmth touched everyone around her, and she made it a point to share that love with others every day. Shirley’s deep faith in GOD and her love for singing were an important part of who she was. Shirley will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
