Judith Burton Midgett, born May 4, 1948, in Deal Island Historic District, Maryland, to the late John Hobson and Isabell Laird Burton.  She passed away on Monday, September 29, 2025 surrounded by her family.

Judith was a woman who danced through life, much like the shag dancing she so loved. She lived a full and vibrant life. She spent many years as an insurance agent, where she was known for her dedication, honesty, and her ability to put a positive spin on any situation. After retirement, she had more time to devote to her passions. She was an member of the CLASS (Camden Lugoff Area Shag Society), where she danced with a grace and vivacity that was truly mesmerizing. Her love for the beach was unparalleled, and she spent many joyous hours basking in the sun and playing in the waves. 

Judith was a beloved mother to her daughters, Christine Beaulieu Lester  of Lugoff,  Amanda Shipley of Lugoff, Cindy Marshall of Arkansas, and Julie Salinas of North Carolina; brothers, Johnny Burton of Maryland and Clifford Burton (Karo) of North Carolina; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. who survives her. She was preceded in death by the love of her life John David "Skippy" Midgett. Judith will be remembered not only for her accomplishments and hobbies, but for the love she gave, the joy she spread, and the dance she danced. 

Please join us in celebrating Judith's life. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 4:00 PM at Powers Funeral Home located at 832 Ridgeway Road, Lugoff, South Carolina. The funeral service will follow at 5:00 PM at the funeral home. Following the service, the family invites friends and family to Judie's home for a continued celebration.
