Loraine Ross Truesdale Obituary

Loraine Truesdale, 73, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, peacefully passed away Saturday morning surrounded by her cherished girls and sister. Despite a brief but brave fight with cancer, she faced each challenge with courage and a radiant smile that inspired everyone around her.

Born in Savannah, GA to LoRan Ross and Barbara Cobb, Loraine's warm heart and lively spirit touched all who knew her. She dedicated 34 wonderful years to Sentinel Health Partners as the Lugoff Divisions Office Manager for 17 years, a CPT coder, where she also served as the past President of the SCMGMA Columbia Chapter. After retiring, she joyfully became Forest Lake Travel’s cruise line specialist, since no trip was complete without a cruise! Loraine was a certified Silver Sneaker’s Instructor and was treasured by her group at The Fitness Zone.

A true gifted musician and lover of music, Loraine was the director of the Wateree Baptist Church Choir for over 25 years, filling her world with song, and in her younger days, she rocked the bowling lanes in competitive leagues. She adored traveling- anywhere, spending quality time with her family, watching her grandchildren in sporting events, sharing loud laughs, playing the piano and singing, dancing, a fun card or board game, and a good margarita.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 44 years, Cecil; daughters Tara Guerard (Russell), Amy Brunson (Joey), and Jessica Jones (Jamey); grandchildren Garrett Gamble, Aiken Guerard, Myers Guerard, Avery Williams, and Lila Guerard; bonus grandchildren Harris, Ashlyn, and Jonathan; her loving mother, Barbara Cobb; siblings Terri McGee (Donald) and Darrell Ross (Derhonda); step-siblings Rengy Marshall (Ted) and Skip Ross (Tonya); her sisters-in-law Ronni, Theresa, and Dawn; a brother-in-law Donavan; and a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her father, LoRan Ross and step-father, Ted Cobb and her Grandparents.

Loraine’s legacy is one of love, laughter, adventure, and faith. Her vibrant spirit will forever dance in the hearts of those she touched, reminding us to live fully, love fiercely, laugh loud and always forgive.

A special thank you to Dr. Tallulah Holmstrom, The Hollings Cancer Center, and the fabulous MUSC Hospice Team.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Wateree Baptist Church. The family invites everyone to join them immediately following the service for a celebration of life at the Family Life Center, where stories, laughter, food and love will fill the room just as she would have wanted. A private burial will be held in Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
