ELGIN-  Charles Allen Baldwin, Sr., 85, husband of the late Loretta Mae Baldwin, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2025. Born in Huntington, W.V., he was a son of the late Julian Lloyd Baldwin and Vora Campbell Schafer. Mr. Baldwin enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren. 

    Surviving are his children, Portia L. Kyle (Gregory) of Elgin, Pam Bailey (John) of Elgin, Lloyd Baldwin (Teresa) of Proctorville, OH; brother, Jack Schafer of Huntington, WV; 9 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. 

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Baldwin was predeceased by son, Larry Rhodes; and sisters, Lanna Nelson and Stella Baldwin Champion. 

    Funeral services for Mr. Baldwin will be held Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Quaker Cemetery. The Rev. Arizona DeVane and the Rev. Annett DeVane will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:30-3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
