Dale William Nelson, passed away peacefully, in his home, on August 25, 2025. Born on September 13, 1938, in Caro, Michigan, Dale was a man who lived his life to the fullest as a devoted husband, father, and provider for his family. He will be remembered not just for his accomplishments, but also his spirit.

A dedicated and hardworking individual, Dale served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1964 at Ft. Knox, Ft. Lee and Ft. Benning as a Leather & Canvas Repairman plus as a Squad Automatic Rifleman, before being honorably discharged. From the skills he learned while in the army, Dale then went on to work in the apparel manufacturing industry as a skilled Sewing Machine Technician until his retirement in 2001. His work ethic was only surpassed by his love for his hobbies. An avid hunter and NRA Life Member, Dale found peace and tranquility in the outdoors, or while reloading ammunition. A gifted mechanic, he enjoyed restoring and working on cars, especially Studebakers, and most any mechanical devices.

Dale is survived by his sons, Jeffrey A. Nelson (Kimbrie) of Florence, SC and Barry A Nelson (Mary Helen) of Lugoff, SC; grandchildren, Layla Ballard-Sholly and Derek Lutz; granddaughter-in-law, Anna Haberkorn; and 2 great-grandchildren, Henry Lutz and Vivien Lutz.

He is preceded in death by his late wife, Shirley Ann Nelson; parents, Basil and Viola Nelson; siblings, Cherry Ferrett, Marjorie Hardenburg, Corinne Thompson and Basil Nelson, Jr.

A time of gathering will be held on Monday, September 29, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Powers Funeral Home.
