Mrs. Irma Powell Dixon, age 100, of Hazlehurst, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Pineland Personal Care Home.

She was born on January 26, 1925, in Jeff Davis County to the late John Cargile Powell and Eula Partin Powell. A native of Jeff Davis County, Mrs. Dixon moved to Camden, South Carolina, where she spent many years before returning to Hazlehurst in 2015.

Mrs. Irma was a devoted member of Lighthouse Christian Fellowship Church, where she deeply loved her church family and faithfully attended services. She was also a proud member of the Sanctuary Sunday School class. Always eager to learn new things, she taught herself to play the harmonica at the age of 80, and her talent brought joy to those around her.

Formally of Camden, SC, she work as a waitress at Debruhl's in East Camden for many years, and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. 

Known for her grace and style, Mrs. Dixon was a classy lady who loved dressing up each day and accessorizing with her favorite jewelry. Friends and family remember that she was always “dressed to the nines” wherever she went. She enjoyed listening to gospel music and cherished time spent with her family.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Irma is preceded in death by her husband, W.J. Dixon; her brothers, Hammond, Aidon, Council, and Raford “Buddy”; and her sisters, Versie, Christine, Susan “Trixie”, Veda, Otera, Oneda, Jimmie, and Rosa.

She is survived by her brothers, Winston (Geraldine) Powell of Jacksonville, FL, and Dewitt (Jo Ann) Powell of Hazlehurst; her sister, Florence Withers of Jacksonville, FL, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at 3:00 P.M. at Lighthouse Christian Fellowship Church with Rev. Tyrone Hutchinson officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. until just prior to the service.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, Camden, S.C. with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will recieve friends prior to the service from 10-11 at the church.
