John Alan Squires, age 58, of Jefferson formerly of Camden and Charleston, crossed over to eternal life on Sunday evening, August 10, 2025. He died peacefully after a two year battle to recover from a devastating stroke. Alan was born June 22, 1967, in Camden, S.C. A graduate of the University of South Carolina, he spent his career working for BellSouth and AT&T. After his retirement from AT&T, he worked at Francis Marion University until his stroke. For fun, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with friends and family. He always looked forward to his annual vacations to Cancun.
Alan is survived by his loving wife, Robin Eubanks Squires; parents, John and Gloria Squires; step-son Jordan Craven (Udell); sister, Janice Withycombe (Greg), and nieces, Jessica Withycombe and Jordan Withycombe-Green (Erik), and his beloved dogs, Meatball, Cujo, Prissy and Cali. Alan’s contagious smile, quick sense of humor and courageous attitude will greatly be missed.
Per his wishes, the family will celebrate Alan’s life with a private gathering.
