With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Lizzie Mae Harris, who was called to be with our Lord on August 11, 2025. Born on October 23, 1936, in Ridgeway, SC, Lizzie spent her life in the loving embrace of her community in Lugoff, South Carolina. Those who knew Lizzie will remember her for her nurturing spirit, her unfailing kindness, and her unyielding faith in God.
Lizzie devoted her professional life to the restaurant industry, where she served as a beacon of warmth and hospitality. Her skill in food preparation was only outshone by her deeply rooted love for people, particularly the little ones. Lizzie had a special gift for caring for babies, a talent that earned her recognition and a unique place in our hearts. As Proverbs 22:6 says, "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Lizzie lived this verse every day, nourishing not only the bodies but also the souls of the children she encountered.
Lizzie's memory will be cherished by her loving siblings Martha Scott, Dorothy Murphy, Georgiana Scott, Joseph Harris, Hettie Fludd, and Corrine Campbell. She is preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Mary Harris; sister, Barbara Dean; and her brothers, Daniel, Paul, and Ed Harris.
A public viewing will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2025, from 4:00 - 6:00 pm at Powers Funeral Home, 832 Ridgeway Road, Lugoff, South Carolina, 29078. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Mt Calvary Church of God In Christ, 1044 Ebenezer Road, Lugoff, South Carolina, 29078 with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
In the words of the Psalmist, "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints." (Psalm 116:15). As we bid farewell to our beloved Lizzie, we are comforted by the knowledge that she is resting in the arms of our Savior.
