Mary E. Morgan Obituary

Daughter of Basil and Lilly Mae Grantham, Mary Morgan was born in Bishopville, South Carolina, and graduated from Bishopville High School. She later attended Midlands Technical College, where she took business courses before beginning a long and dedicated career at Palmetto Baptist Hospital (now Prisma Health), where she worked faithfully for over 30 years as an administrative assistant.

She spent much of her life in Columbia, South Carolina, later moving to Elgin and eventually retiring in North Myrtle Beach.

A devoted member of Hillcrest Baptist Church for many years, she remained deeply connected to her church family and continued to draw strength from her faith, even from afar. The church had been a source of joy, comfort, and community throughout her life—one she carried with her, no matter where she was.

She had a passion for shopping, gardening, attending the theatre, and decorating her home—especially during the holidays. Christmas was her favorite time of year, a season that brought her immense happiness and special time with her family.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Cyndi Glover (Dean); and Cindy’s sons, grandchildren, James “Jay” Glover (Abigail) and Morgan Glover-Tullis (Todd); great- grandchildren, Loralie and Presley; and her beloved sister, Geraldine Grantham Powell.  She was preceded in death by her sister, Ruby Nell Davis; her precious granddaughter, Ashley Glover; and brother-in-law, Jim Powell.  She is also survived by her son, James Curtis Morgan, Jr (Jody), and Curt’s children, grandchildren, Jake and Hayley, and two great-grandchildren, Logan and Roman

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff with burial to follow in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens, Elgin.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mary would like to extend her appreciation to the Glover family for their lifelong supportand encouragement, it was much appreciated, and she was grateful to have you in her life.

Mary's family extends their sincerest appreciation for the loving care, compassion and support provided by the Legacy of North Myrtle Beach and Amedisys Hospice Staff.
