Billy Ray Young, 82, of Elgin, South Carolina, passed away on August 7, 2025. Born in Kershaw, SC, on August 6, 1943. He dedicated his life to serving others through his church, and in his professional career as a surveyor for BP Barber and Associates, from which he retired after more than 30 years of service. He enjoyed Southern Gospel, NASCAR, and Western movies.

Billy is survived by his sisters, Anna Miles, Annie Cleverly, Catherine Ponder, and JoAnn Young, and his brother John Young; niece, Kristen Mosley (Steve); nephew, Donald Miles; great-nieces, Destiny Ponder, Kaitlin Ponder, Gage Ponder, Savana Mosley and Cassidy Mosley; great-great niece Rory Ann Lenae Ponder; and numerous other nieces and nephews. 

 He was predeceased by his parents, James and Estelle Young, his brothers James and Charles Young, and his sister Barbara Kinsey. His visitation will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Powers Funeral Home, 832 Ridgeway Road, Lugoff, South Carolina, 29078. The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 11, 2025, at 10:00am at the funeral home, with the burial to immediately follow in Royal Pines Independent Holiness in Pontiac, SC. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Royal Pines Independent Holiness in Pontiac, SC.
