With a heart filled with both sorrow and gratitude, we bid farewell to a truly inspiring soul, William "Bill" Ray Pierce, who was born on October 5, 1948, in Roanoke Rapids, NC and took his last breath on July 31, 2025. A compassionate man of humble beginnings, William touched many lives with his selflessness and unwavering dedication to making the world a better place. His light will continue to shine in our hearts as we remember a life lived with purpose and love.
Bill found joy in his hobbies of playing softball, Gospel Blue Grass, and golf. He always had a Pepsi and Little Debbie in hand. He was an active member of Harvest Baptist Church, where he faithfully served in the Awana Ministry and was a commander for many years. His dedication to service whilst in the Army was recognized with the Military National Defense Service Medal and the Sharp Shooter M-16 Medal, a testament to his bravery and commitment to his country.
Left to cherish his memories are his children, Robert Pierce Sr. (E'lissa) of Elloree, SC, Michael Pierce (Tanja) of Lugoff, SC, Kristina Weems (Brian) of Elgin, SC; brother, Robert C. Pierce (Millie); sisters, Frances McDonald (Michael), Betty J. Turbyfill (Roy) and Helen R. Meetze; 9 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren. William was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and a role model, imparting valuable life lessons through his actions more than his words.
He was preceded in death by his late wife, Shelia Dianne Pierce; parents, Mary and Clyde Pierce; brother, Ernest Wade Pierce; sister, Linda Faye Morgan; and 3 great-grandchildren. Although he is no longer with us physically, his legacy lives on in the hearts and minds of those he touched.
The family invites you to join them in remembering William's life on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at Harvest Baptist Church in Lugoff, SC. Visitation will start at 11:00 am, followed by the funeral service at 12:00 pm. Burial will take place following the service at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens on 11020 Two Notch Rd, Elgin, South Carolina, 29045.
In honor of William Pierce, we invite you to share your memories, stories, and photos on his memorial page. As we remember William, let us carry forward his legacy of compassion, humility, and inspiration, celebrating a life truly well-lived.
