Elgin – Funeral service for Wanda Watts Howell, 72, will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Union Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Luther Harmon will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Howell passed away at home on Friday, July 18, 2025. Born in Elgin, she was the daughter of the late Hampton and Sara McKay Watts. After graduating from Blaney High School in 1970, she went to work for Crawford Sprinkler where she retired in July of 2025 as the service manager. She was a faithful member of Union Baptist Church. Mrs. Howell enjoyed her happy place at her cabin in Waynesville, N.C.
Surviving are her husband of 42 years, Ronnie Howell; daughter, Brandy Bayne (Chris) of Columbia; sister, Jeanette Hornsby (Gary) of Elgin; sister-in-law, Mildred Watts of Elgin; grandchildren, Christopher Bayne, Tyler Bayne, Landon Bayne and Isabella Bayne; niece, Tammy Watts Motley (Brian); nephews, Dale Hornsby, Luke Watts and Darryl Watts (Stephanie); and numerous extended family. She was predeceased by brother, Wade Watts; and nephew, Wayne Munn.
