Lugoff – A service to celebrate the life of Joann Rabon O’Brien, 93, will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.  The Rev. Eric Boone will officiate.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Mrs. O’Brien passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at Karesh Longterm Care and Rehab.  Born in Camden, she was the daughter of the late George Witt Rabon and Ella Hinson Rabon.  She formerly owned and operated The General Store in Pine Grove.  She enjoyed cooking, canning, fishing but most of all spending time with her family.  She was known for her hospitality and caring for others was her joy in life.  She also enjoyed a good time and was never shy in dancing.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Nancy B. Gregory (Terry), Carol B. Catoe (Sonny) of Lugoff; daughter-in-law, Jeannie Branham of Lugoff; grandchildren, Richard Gregory of Lugoff, Bubba Baker (Joni) of Ridgeway, David Catoe  (Emily) of Lugoff, Lisa Branham of Charleston, and Danny Carl “DJ” Branham, Jr. of Lugoff; great-grandchildren, Brent Baker, Colden Baker, Stella Baker, Ryan Gregory, Landon Gregory, Austin Gregory, Miriam Catoe, Colton Catoe, Shawn Branham, Aubrey Branham,  Christopher Grooms, and McKenzie Grooms.  She was predeceased by her husband, John Walter O’Brien; first husband, Carl A. Branham; son, Danny Branham; grandson, Jay Baker; siblings, Mitchell Rabon, Theodore Rabon, Jack Rabon, Bill Rabon, Mattie Mooneyhan, Nadine Fretag, and Mildred Johnston; and a special friend, Kenny Branham.

The family extends a special thanks to the staff and residents at Karesh at Beechwood who have become family, for their loving care given to Mrs. O’Brien.
