Kershaw – Graveside service for James Alton Bair, 82, will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.  The Rev. Todd Gandy will officiate.  The family will receive friends Thursday, July 17, 2025 from 5-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff.  Memorials may be made to Providence Baptist Church.

Mr. Bair passed away at home surrounded by his family on Monday, July 14, 2025.  Born in Camden, he was the son of the late Carlton McQueen Bair, Sr. and Edna Levy Bair.  He retired from AT&T where he worked for 37 years.  He was a member of Providence Baptist Church.  Mr. Bair was an avid hunter and a member of Sugar Berry Hunt Club in Horatio, S.C.  He also enjoyed watching Braves baseball.  He was a devoted and faithful husband, father, grandfather, and uncle who loved spending time with his family.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Linda Louise McElveen Bair; son, Wayne Bair (Jennifer) of Camden; Daughter, Wendy Bair Cassady of Kershaw; brother, Larry Dale Bair (Shirley) of Lugoff; grandchildren, Newman Bair (Anndrea) of Cassatt, Hunter Bair (Leann Kiser) of Bishopville, Wyatt Cassady of Kershaw, and Kinsley Cassady of Kershaw; and a great-grandson, Lawson Williams, and beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Carlton McQueen Bair, Jr.
