Mark Breymeyer of Elgin, 74, passed away on July 9, 2025 in Elgin, SC. Mark was born on March 3, 1951 in Watseka, IL. He is the middle son of the late Wendell and Esther Breymeyer. He is survived by his wife Tammi Breymeyer, two daughters, Summer Breymeyer Deason of Evans, GA and Amanda Marie Breymeyer of Nashville, TN, a brother, Bradley Breymeyer (Pat) of Ashkum, IL, a nephew Jacob Breymeyer (Sunshine) of Gaston, SC, a niece, Brandi Curwick (Jeff) of Kankakee, IL, a niece, Jill Stiers of Watseka, IL, grandson Walker A. Deason, and granddaughter Spencer Marie Deason of Evans, GA and many other special nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, older brother, Michael, and sister-in-law, Tammy.
Mr. Breymeyer retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service, and he retired from the U.S. Postal Service after another 20 years. While with the U.S. Postal Service, he served as Branch President, Vice President and President of the Mail Handlers Union Local 334.
Mark was a life member of the 82nd Airborne Association and life member of the 2nd Battalion 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment.
Mark enjoyed catfishing and hunting. He also has a collection of Elk Command Knives. Each honorary pallbearer will receive an Elk Knife from this collection in a presentation box as a show of appreciation.
There will be a visitation held at 1:00 pm at Powers Funeral Home in Lugoff, SC on Tuesday, July 15th, 2025, and a funeral service immediately to follow at 2:00 pm. A burial with full military honors will be held the following day, Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at 9:00 am at Fort Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia SC. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Tunnels-To-Towers Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
