Mrs. Aldrich, wife of the late Robert Wayne Aldrich, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. Born in Camden, she was the daughter of the late Johnny Walter and Gladys Sharpe Newman. She was owner of Sadie’s House of Beauty in Camden. If you grew up in Camden, chances are you had a haircut there. Many times people would come in and would not be able to pay and she would still tell them to have a seat, all were welcome in her chair. She had an infectious smile and was always willing to help those in need. She was a faithful and devoted Christian who served the Lord, often singing in church or leading a prayer group. Mrs. Aldrich enjoyed the beach where she would walk on the shore and pick up seashells, fishing, board games (only if she won), antiquing, and cooking large meals to enjoy with loved ones. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Surviving are her children, Wanda Watkins (Johnny) of Westville, S.C., Melanie Stevenson of Irmo, and Tony Davis of Irmo; stepsons, Glenn Aldrich (Lucy) of Copperas Cove, Texas and Bobby Aldrich of Copperas Cove, Texas; sisters, Frances Newman and Shirley Newman; brothers, Butch Newman, Willis Newman. 34 grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Jimmy Davis; grandson; Robbie Stevenson; sister, Bobbie Proctor; and brothers Walter Newman and Larry Newman.
