Lugoff – A Memorial service for William “Bill” D. Walters, 96, will be held on Sunday, July 6, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Springvale Baptist Church in Lugoff with inurnment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church immediately following the service.

Mr. Walters, husband of Ann Dease Walters, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025.  Born in Darlington County, S.C., he was the son of the late Wade H. Walters and Lula Hawkins Walters.

He was a farmer for years and worked for over 37 years as a supervisor for Dupont Corporation in Lugoff. He was a faithful member of Springvale Baptist Church, where he served on numerous committees and as a deacon. Bill was always quick to share his homemade mac and cheese with bereaved families in the church and community. He had a true servant’s heart and was a peacemaker.  He was also known as being a jokester and an instigator at times. He had a great sense of humor.  

In addition to his wife, left to cherish his memory are his son, Hugh Edward Walters; stepdaughters, Rhonda Yeargin and Donnelle R. Powers; a sister, Patricia Gibson; 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and 9 step grandchildren; and 19 great step grandchildren. Bill was predeceased by a son, William Walters Jr.; daughters, Deborah Lynn Walters, and Cindy Marie Munn; and a stepson, Michael T. Redick.
