Debria Anne Nienow, age 79, of Columbia, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2025.

Born on August 5, 1945, in Columbia, SC, Debria was the beloved daughter of Billy O’Adcock and Lee Mae Adcock (Turbeville). She was one of three children and grew up alongside her two brothers, Richard “Dickie” Adcock and William “Sonny” Adcock, who preceded her in death.

Debria was the proud mother of four daughters: Sylvia Leigh Ann Nienow, who predeceased her death, Tamara Floyd, Rebecca Nienow, who predeceased her death, and Melissa Nienow. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she cherished deeply.

She was married to the love of her life, Gary Merlin Nienow—affectionately known as "Papa"—for 58 wonderful years before his passing. Together, they built a home filled with love, laughter, and strong family values that continue to shape generations.

Debria was known for her beauty—inside and out. In the 1960s, she was crowned Ms. St. Andrew's, and her passion for beauty carried into her lifelong career as a cosmetologist. She was a master color artist and performed in platform hair shows, where her talent and creativity shone brightly.

Beyond her professional achievements, Debria lived a life of deep compassion and selflessness. She always put the needs of others before her own and was truly the foundation of her family. Her home was a safe place, her hugs were healing, and her love was unwavering. She was the light and the heart of her family's world.

Known for her sharp wit and one-of-a-kind sense of humor, she gave each of her grandchildren a unique nickname and made every person she loved feel special. She enjoyed crocheting intricate pieces by hand, cooking warm homemade meals, and spending time with those she loved most. And no one ever left her presence without hearing her say, "I love you more."

Her presence filled every room with warmth, and her laughter left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Debria’s memory will continue to live on through the stories told, the traditions passed down, and the love she poured into each generation.

A private memorial will be held by the family at a later date to celebrate her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Debria’s memory by sharing a home-cooked meal with someone you love or taking the time to create something by hand—just as she so often did.
