CASSATT – A memorial service for James Lorenzo Furman will be held at 11am on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Powers Funeral Home.

James Lorenzo Furman, affectionately known as “Bug”, was born December 9, 1963, in Cassatt, S.C. He departed this life on May 22, 2025. He was born to the late Ralph Furman, Sr. and Susie Blair Furman. He attended Red Hll Baptist Church at an early age.

He graduated from North Central High School, where he received a scholarship for football, a sport that he genuinely loved. Known for his speed, he was also a track star. He was given the name Skeeter by his coach.

He worked in his early years with New South and later with Burkett Systems for many years as an electrician. He did a few odd jobs with temp services, as well as some job hustling until his health started to decline. James enjoyed fishing, playing the lottery, sports and the outdoors. He was a prankster and a Dallas Cowboy fan. He was greatly loved by his family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Furman, Sr. and a son, Pickett Jarenzo Stephan Furman.

Surviving are his mother, Susie Mae Furman; his son, Daniel Lorenzo Furman of Cassatt; his daughters, LaPorsha Furman and Alexis Furman of Lancaster; two grandsons, Major Nesbit and Ace Moore of the home; four sisters, Beverly Sutton, Almeta (Timothy) Benjamin, Annette Furman, and Tonya Furman; three brothers, Sam (Sheila) Furman, Ralph (Rhonda) Furman, and Tracey Furman; aunt, Betty Frazier of Greensboro, NC; a special friend, Charlene; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
