ELGIN- A funeral service for Robert Edward Freyer, 82, will be held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Harmony Baptist Church. The Rev. Ray Lowe will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2-3 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. A burial with military honors will take place in Fort Jackson National Cemetery on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Harmony Baptist Church, Elgin.

    Mr. Freyer passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. Born in Catskill, N.Y., he was a son of the late Martin Freyer and Edna Kero Freyer. Mr. Freyer served in the U.S. Army, 101st Airborne during Vietnam. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, camping in the mountains and hiking.

    Surviving are his wife, Pauline Stockman Freyer; son, Robert T. Freyer (Sissy), Cindy E. Rabon; step-children, Cynthia “Cindy” Peake (Charnell), Jeffrey Davis (Emma), Todd Davis; siblings, Marty Freyer, Anita Stephens; grandchildren, Josh Peake, Alex Davis, Brittany Furniss; and great-grandchildren, Cameran Peake, Caley Peake, Hope Glover, Reagan Glover, Caroline Glover, Walker Glover, Sterling Glover, Laken Davis, Briar Davis, Colson Furniss, Aubrey Furniss. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a granddaughter, Amanda Peake Glover.
