SUMTER- A funeral service for Janie Mae “Coot” Moses, 68, will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Cherryvale Baptist Church with burial to follow in Boone Memorial Gardens in Bishopville, SC. The Rev. Steve Dawson will officiate. A public viewing will be held Sunday, May 25, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home.

    Mrs. Moses passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. Born in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Jessie and Viola Pompey Scarborough. Mrs. Moses was a member of Cherryvale Baptist Church. She enjoyed being involved in her church, gardening, baking, and spending time with family.

    Surviving are her husband of 44 years, Willie Lee Moses, Sr.; children, Sharonda Scarborough of Columbia, Likeshia Outten (Wesley) of Lugoff, Willie Moses, Jr. of Columbia, Jennifer Moses of Columbia; siblings, Maedell Scarborough, Jerome Scarborough (Theresa), Alfred Anderson (Evern), Virginia Toney, Darlene Bradley, Sherry Ann Scarborough, Dexter Scarborough; 6 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
