Obituary of Anthony Rhett Gerrald

Lugoff - Anthony Rhett Gerrald, 75, passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2025. Born in Columbia, SC, on October 10, 1949, he was the son of the late Robert Cecil Gerrald and Evelyn Nichols Gerrald.  He is survived by the love of his life, Jo Young Gerrald.

Mr. Gerrald was a Hydro technician with Duke Power for 38 years, retiring in 2014. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially rabbit hunting with his beagles. He will be truly missed by all of those that are left behind.

Left to cherish his memories in addition to his wife of 54 years are his son, Keith Gerrald (Leslie) of Lugoff, SC; a daughter, Ashley Ellington (Michael) of West Point, GA; a great grandson, whom he adored, Cale William Gerrald of the home;  a sister, Faye Israel (Levon); grandchildren, Joshua Gerrald, Jessica Hopkins, AllieAnna Ellington, Jon-Michael Ellington, and Wyatt Ellington; and 6 greatgrandchildren.  

Mr. Gerrald was predeceased by his faithful companions, German Shepherds, Spunk and Duke.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at 11:00 am at Powers Funeral Home in Lugoff, SC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 10:00 am. The Rev. Greg Sweet will officiate. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Columbia, SC.

Memorials in lieu of flowers, may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
