Lugoff – A Funeral Service for Bennie Earl Watts, 92, will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at Springvale Baptist Church in Lugoff, SC, with burial to follow in Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. at the church.

Mr. Watts, husband of the late Patsy Alexander Watts, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2025. Born in Camden, SC, he was the son of the late Nick Watts and Julia Peake Watts.

Bennie served his nation in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of Springvale Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, as a member of the Building and Grounds Committee, and many years as a member of the Baptismal Committee. Bennie loved fishing and making his own lures to catch big bass. His special topwater plug was called a “Badd Bennie.” He loved gardening, helping his neighbors, and serving in the church. Bennie traveled to Lynch Kentucky many years on mission trips doing construction work with the Kershaw Baptist Association. He also made a stringed instrument, called the “Strum Stick.”

Bennie loved his family, and time spent with them was always precious. He was a true southern gentleman, who understood the order of priority in life; “God, Family, and Country.”

Surviving are his children; Kimberly O’Quinn (Fred) of Lugoff, and David Watts of Augusta, GA; his grandchildren, Alex O’Quinn (Katee) of Branford, FL, Amanda O’Quinn of Lugoff; 8 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Donald Watts (Lafaye) of Camden, SC. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by brothers, Marshall Watts, Harold Watts, Oscar Watts, Maxie Watts; and a sister, Aline Davis.
